International Workshop on Nuclear Safety Regulation

For an organizational and institutional reform of nuclear safety regulation, it is important to fully understand stances, approaches, and good practices of international organizations and other nuclear regulatory bodies in the world. For that purpose, we think it important to have good opportunities to take advices and suggestions from these organizations in an internationally open manner.

The International Workshop on Nuclear Safety Regulation was held on January 18, 2012, in which all the parties related to nuclear safety regulatory bodies including IAEA, OECD/NEA had convened in one place to discuss the way to conduct good practices of nuclear regulation and Japan’s institutional reform on nuclear safety regulation, as it follows:

  3. Organizer/Secretariat: Nuclear Safety Regulation Reform Preparedness Section of the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan
  4. Participants: IAEA Secretariat, OECD/NEA Secretariat, Nuclear Regulatory Organizations of France, Korea, U.K., U.S.A. and other relevant agencies, etc.
  5. Program:
    (1) Approach and Experience of Nuclear Safety Regulation Organizations (Presentation of each organization in the world)
    (2) Nuclear Safety Regulation Reform in Japan (Presentations from the Japan side, Discussion chaired by the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan)
